BSF Tradesman Recruitment 2024 Written Test Pattern & Syllabus
Written Test:
- The written test will be on paper using OMR sheets.
- Passing marks are 35% for General and Ex-Servicemen, and 33% for SC/ST/OBC candidates.
Subject-wise Breakdown:
- General Knowledge/Awareness (25 questions, 25 marks):
- Questions related to current events, history, geography, etc.
- Elementary Mathematics (25 questions, 25 marks):
- Basic math questions.
- Analytical Aptitude and Pattern Observation (25 questions, 25 marks):
- Questions to test logical thinking and pattern recognition.
- Basic English/Hindi (25 questions, 25 marks):
- Simple questions on English or Hindi language.
Physical Measurement Test (PMT):
- Different height and chest requirements for males and females based on categories.
For Males:
- SC/ST/Adivasis:
- Height: 162.5 cm
- Chest: 76-81 cm
- Candidates of Hilly Areas:
- Height: 165 cm
- Chest: 78-83 cm
- All Other Candidates:
- Height: 167.5 cm

For Females:

Physical Efficiency Test (PET):
- Height bar test followed by a race (5 km for males, 1.6 km for females).
- Biometric identification, document check, chest, and weight measurement.
- No PET for Ex-Servicemen.
Special Conditions:
- Pregnancy during PET is a disqualification for females.
- Original documents will be checked, and only eligible candidates move forward.
Trade Test:
- Cobbler: Shoe-related tasks.
- Tailor: Measuring, cutting, and stitching uniforms.
- Carpenter: Wood-related tasks.
- Cook: Cooking for a group of 100 men.
- Water Carrier: Washing utensils, kneading dough, etc.
- Washerman: Washing and ironing clothes.
- Barber: Haircutting and shaving.
- Sweeper: Cleaning duties.
- Waiter: Food service and hygiene.

- Candidates must pass PST, PET, and document verification before the Trade Test.
- Trade Test is qualifying and does not carry marks.
